Hands-on helping is something that LTHC has as a perpetual need. I think most of us picture that as making meals or packaging lunches -- and of course those are tasks that we do need many hands to help. However, there are other ways that you can contribute your time and talent to be a part of ending homelessness in Greater Lafayette.

Do you understand homelessness and advocate for LTHC in your personal circles? When we have folks who understand these issues and can help educate others, we benefit greatly. If you're not quite to this level, email Shook to come give a talk to your group and start that ball rolling.

Are you a member of a faith-based group that you would like to get better connected to our mission? LTHC runs a Compassion Council for congregations to partner with us -- one quick email can get your group on that contact list.

There is so much more! Like making phone calls? Want to have a group of kiddos pull weeds? Do you enjoy writing and talking to others? We really do need folks with all kinds of strengths to be a part of our organization. We often say that it does not matter how/why a person ends up in homelessness -- they are here now so we want to help them. Same theory applies to volunteers -- if you have something you enjoy doing, chances are we can find a way for you to use that gift.

One of the goals LTHC had in bringing Elizabeth on-board as the Outreach Associate is to help us do a better job in celebrating our volunteers. So this month, we're kicking off the Volunteer Spotlight with:

Sister Cook and Sister Eames, Mormon Missionaries, have been volunteering with us for several months. They come in and do bundling, sandwich making, and other needed tasks. With smiles on their faces and a genuine desire to serve, they brighten our days. Sister Cook, 20, originally from Utah, will be moving on to a new assignment soon. Sister Eames, 19 and from Colorado, will continue a bit longer. Both ladies can see the big picture of why they enjoy volunteering...they are helping us help our guests. They've really made a difference. Thanks bunches!!!

Each year, the United Way of Greater Lafayette focuses on its partner agencies and volunteers during September's Month of Caring. LTHC Homeless Services is a proud United Way organization and invites new (and returning) volunteers to check out their website and volunteer portal. Just click here!

Making sack lunches can be a fun way to bond with co-workers.

Friends of any age can come together to support our mission!

Meal service continues to be a favorite option for families to work together.
