Volunteers with LTHC help us provide resources for individuals, veterans, and families in homelessness.

We always need and appreciate volunteers! LTHC Homeless Services served over 1,800 members of our community last year, and volunteers like you made that possible.

Every volunteer opportunity makes a difference—no matter how big or small. If you have a certain skill or interest when it comes to volunteering, just let us know!

Engagement Center

Generally, our biggest need is helping to serve meals in the Engagement Center. We offer three meals each day:

  • Breakfast from 8:00am - 9:00am
  • Lunch from 12:00pm - 1:00pm
  • Dinner from 5:30pm - 6:30 pm

If you’re just coming in to serve, we ask that you arrive 15 to 20 minutes before the meal to help with set up. In addition to serving, we need your help cleaning up after each meal so the total commitment time is about 90 minutes. This is a volunteer opportunity for individuals and groups of up to four. All volunteers in the kitchen have to be over the age of 16.

Preparing Meals

Providing casseroles to our kitchen is another great volunteer opportunity at LTHC. This helps save our kitchen staff from cooking the main and side dishes. If you would like to prepare a casserole, the general guidelines are:

  • Make enough to serve 75 people
  • You can do one dish or an entire meal
  • Items should be cooked, but do not have to come in hot (we can reheat)
  • Use aluminum foil pans so we do not have to return your dish to you

What are LTHC’s volunteer opportunities?

LTHC can often accommodate special volunteer requests as well. If you are seeking an internship, an activity for a small- or medium-sized group, or something regular besides helping with meals, please reach out to info@lthc.net. We work with these requests whenever we can because we need all the help we can get.

We have hosted students in service learning and internship projects that have included public health, pre-med, human services, nursing, pharmacy, public relations, communication, and technology.

Examples of special projects may include:

Helping at events

Bundling bulk supplies

Painting and other facility improvements

Leading activities with our guests or tenants

Landscaping and other outdoor projects

And more!
